As a senior society, AOS plays an important role in guiding education, research, vetting evidence-based treatments, setting standards for quality, and providing leadership in the field of otology and neurotology.

Looking for Annual Meeting Information?
The American Otological Society provides a wide range of programs and resources for otolaryngologists, subspecialty otologists and neurotologists, audiologists and clinicians and scientists. The programs include the prestigious Award of Merit, quarterly educational programs conducted by leaders scross the subspecialty, and the Signature Initiative through which AOS members will leverage their experience and influence to address the most pressing and complex issues faced by patients and their families. Resources include links to other otological organizations, otological journals, philanthropic organizations, employment opportunities, and fellowships

Signature Initiative

The Signature Initiative, led by the most experience and influential leaders in the hearing and balance sciences will leverage their knowledge and collaborative ability to solve some of the greatest challenges of the Otological community.

Award of Merit

The AOS Award of Merit is the highest, most prestigious honor one can receive from the American Otological Society. Recipients are selected by the past, past President of the AOS Council and a group of advisors. The granting of the award occurs at the annual AOS President’s reception & banquet.

Mentoring

AOS is dedicated to developing clinicians and scientists in their pursuit of academic and clinical excellence, not just in recognizing prior achievement, but actively helping them toward their next accomplishments. Meetings provide opportunities for junior attendees to meet with members and form lasting supportive relationships and collaborations.

There is a celebrated high level of comradery and collaboration among AOS members. This fosters the drive for professional excellence needed to meet the high standards for future AOS membership. Collaboration between members and non-members provides opportunities for junior colleagues to recognize role models and establish ongoing mentorship relationships. In-person meetings provide unparalleled opportunities for exchanges of ideas that have not been reproduced in electronic meetings. These opportunities stimulate members and non-members to pursue excellence in academic, educational, and clinical efforts – motivated by the highest in ideals to ultimately benefit all patients with ear-related disorders.
